I've just invested in a 99 E320 Estate. Which is very lovely. However the CD Autochanger in the boot will not eject its cassette. ANy thoughts as to why this may be?

Should I check the DIN cable connection - is this where power comes in? And is there a fuse for it that I should check?

Thanks in advance

Jon

if it is a becker when you slide back the cover, does the green lamp come on when you push the eject button, if it does but does not eject it means that a cd has jamed or got stuck you could try and play a different cd and then eject.

No green light = no power?

There is no light on the unit - does that mean there is no power?

If so, how do I pull the head unit out? Does the dismembered coat hanger trick work?

This unit is powered the whole time, even if the radio is off, you have found the eject button, :eek:wing to the time it takes to trace one wire it is easier for me to slip mine out and look.
Do you have the code for the radio as it may need re coding.
I will look PM today.

Head unit is powered and I have code for it. It is just the changer that isn't - so it is either faulty of the power connection is not there. does it have its own power supply, or does it take power from the head unit?

I had two boot changers one Sony, one Alpine or Kenwood) which have done this - in both cases the head was dirty and all functions such as play/change CD/eject cartridge failed.

Audio shop whipped the units out, took off casing, removed cartrige, cleaned hean and reassembled in 30 mins or so.

Hello Jon, had a slight problem today, could not find my keys for taking the radio out. Have found them now under my computer. you will need the keys to get yours out Part number W000 589 88 63 00 cost £1.00.
I will take mine out in the morning and tell you where the power comes from.

OK Jon Yes the radio head unit feeds the changer.
The power plug fits in the head unit top left euro sockect when viewed from front, it has 3 leads, silly me I should have checked to see what pin had 12v.
but time was limited, it is no trouble to slip it out and check.
