Does anyone know if the changer No. MC3198 will work with the audio 10 in my 99 E240? Also is the cabling already in the car?

Hi,
The MC3198 is a fibre optic CD changer. It should be suitable for the Audio10
To check if it is pre-wired, just slide the radio out and check if it has 2 orange wires connected to the socket next to where the power and the speakers are connected.
It should also have a connector to the top block; otherwise you wont have power to the CD Changer

Thanks mate
Does the unit just slide out or do I need any special tools?

Special tool is needed.
Part Number: W 000 589 88 63 00
They come as a pair and are less than £1(for a pair) from MB dealers

No orange wires but there are two brown wires going into the top block. Does this mean i'm wired up??

Has it got a connector in the socket next to the power supply?
In the picture that is where the green plug is located (Where the fibre optic cables go)?
If the back of your radio does not have a socket like that, the MC3198 will not work
The power supply to the CD Changer should be in the socket top of the 3

You guessed right, It isn't pre-wired,
Yes the unit on Ebay should be a straight swap for your unit.
I assume that you have the one with the cassette player.

Hi Nick100
Do you still have the cassette player in your possession? I would be interested in taking it off your hands. Cheers

Hi Arav,
I don't think that this cassette player is suitable for your car as you seem to have the later model.
If you have a W203 or W209 you need a radio with the rounded edges as the previous ones will not fit.
