Hi,

I have an SLK350 with the COMAND satnav/radio/CD system, and the optional CD Changer in the glovebox (6 discs).

I turned everything on and no lights came on on the front of my CD Changer. When I press the buttons on the front of it, the COMAND screen shows "eject CD<number>" or if I press and hold one, "eject all CDs". Needless to say no discs actually come out! When I try to play one of the discs, it doesn't say "no disc", but neither does it actually play any of the discs.

Any ideas what the problem is, or how to fix it?

Maybe Afie will know what you can do with it, he is a member who does Command work.

Thanks for the welcome! It's good to be here!

Shame I didn't come here under better circumstances, but hey.

I look forward to hearing from "Afie"... It'll be awesome to sort out this problem.

Hi and welcome.
Seems to me that it might be a cable problem. (wake-up or fiber, that's what I'd check first)
As per Television Alfie is the man to answer, more so than me anyway, I am no expert but learning more everyday.
Alfie where are you.
Regards,

Alex.
Television are you really 72, hope I am 10% helpfull to others that you have to offer today. If I make it to 72 that is.

The strange thing is that it worked fine on my way to work this morning, but when I got in the car to come home, it didn't work. And nothing changed on my journey home, which, if it was a dodgy cable, I would expect it to have done. It also doesn't explain why the link appears to be there between the changer and the stereo in terms of it receiving signals telling it that I am ejecting discs (even though they don't come out).

Good god Malcolm, I started working when I was 12, and am still working 7 day's a week, am now 48, have to say I think I need to slow down now, been working 7 day's running for 11 years, but it's been worth it to retire next year.

I'll retire for 3 months abd go back to work, I think I'd get bored or go mad.

Regards,

Alex.

If you are happy working as I am, and have been, thats the important bit, it does leave you a kind of a miss fit in society but so what. Even if you start doing something else it could be a good thing.

I do not think that you will take to retirement

Persoannly I dont think so either.
Might take a wee break and go back to working.

As you know stealership is a major ripoff and ideally I would love to open an indie here in Scotland and help people out, and would only ask for small fee for up keep of premise's.

You cant go wrong really, it makes a huge difference when you do not have to earn big money to pay the bills anymore, plus the change would do you good

Does it whirr or make any noise?
It would seem to be awake if it's talking to the command unit. All the symptoms sound like a duff motor to me. You could try giving it a bash but IMO it's going to need the lid off at the very least. I assume an SLK350 would still be under warranty? - off to the dealer you go!
The only other thought is to pull the fuse and reset it - it may do the trick.
