Hi,

I'm collecting a 2005 W203 C Class Coupe SE this weekend and the current owner has managed to get a CD stuck in the player. Its the larger screen entertainment pack, not the standard ISO size CD player.

Any guides on how to remove the CD or as a last resort to remove the CD player to get at the workings of the CD drive?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not quite clear on this, is this in the slot in the head unit.

Just get a flat k!tchen knife, put it in the slot with blade pointing slightly downward and when you press eject it will ease out on the knife.

You can clean the rollers, I will be doing a post on this shortly

I always use a second CD but same effect I guess - never thought to use a knife.

I assumed the rollers had worn down - but if they can be cleaned to sort that is excellent!

They only want cleaning, alcohol is not as good as brake cleaner. One should be care using 2 CDs as the CD clamp could push the turntable down on the motor shaft, they are only a push fit.

sounds almost like when you had to clean the ball and rollers on old mice years ago, I'd wonder if something like Amberclens would be better as it's antistatic and evaporates, or does brake cleaner have similar properties?

Lighter fuel is what I used all my life Mat, any of these fast drying spirits will do it.

I do not know the one you mentioned

interesting, I was always under the impression that it would (over time) eat away at boards and components.

This is Amberclens

Lighter fuel is refined petrol, I have used it for cleaning PCBs for 60 years, rubber rollers and drive belts, cleaning in general.

think you meant mice :), as in the mouse on a computer years ago used to have a ball on the bottom and next to the ball was two runners for the x and y axis, very similar to what's the head unit to eject a CD

Update: no joy using another cd so I'll have to try removing the audio 20 unit itself and then taking it apart. Does anyone know if the audio 20 has a code that I'll need to re-enter when I plug it back in?

I do not believe that codes are wanted, you could ask MB for the code if needed and they will give it to you.

Okey dokey, fair do's. I'll update again when I know more.

Any guides for removing the audio 20 and the surrounding panels? Are there any special release keys I'll need?
