Hi,
I'm looking for imformation on the C series model 2004. My car has a single CD player/tuner, and I would like to fit a mercedes 6 multi disc changer system. My dealer has quoted £500 which I feel is a little heavy considering that the multi plug is already in the glovebox. I have seen these changer units on ebay for as little as a couple of hundred pounds, the problem is:- Will theses units play in my car?

I have read in the manual that theses units have to be registered to the ECU unit in order for them to work? True or False?

Any help please

:( yes it would need programming so that the car knows you have a multichanger fitted. If you already have two sets of wires showing in the glove compartment no wiring is needed and you may already have been set for the multichanger.

Dont forget if you get it off ebay you also need the mounting bracket...

If you need anything email me direct at dean.fitton@macapp.co.uk

and I will Gladly help

Hi Deano,

Thanks for the imformation mate. I will need to check-out what wiring I have in the glove box. I've only been able to have quick look since I've only had the car a week. Can this programming be done outwith mercedes main dealer/stealer ie independants/specialists etc?
Once again thanks for the reply,

:( unfortunatley not as far as I am aware.

You will be charged to do this around £55 + vat but for a cd kit your car is worth about £500 more.

Not that bad really.

P.S. If you keep it serviced at a fully auth. MB repair centre and any work like brakes at specialists it will also look better for claiming warranty as car will be fully genuine.

If you know what I mean.

But please only use genuine bits I have found. They way cost 5 or 10% more but you know that if something happens at least the car is fitted with the right spec. parts and not something that almost fits correct.

Deano.

Thanks for that Deano. I'll see if my mercedes dealer is happy fitting a cd changer that I have supplied. £55 is not as bad as I was fearing :!: I thought £500 to supply and fit was a bit excessive. I'll double check the part numbers of any that come up on eBay before bidding/buying.

Thanks again,

I'm trying to fit a cd changer in, but so far have not been able to locate the power lead, any ideas where it might be hiding or do i need to go get one from the dealers?
