Easy to remove, all you need is a screwdriver and a pair of wire cutters!
Getting over the amount of problems you would then encounter after the removal would be the difficult bit!
The Central Gateway is an essential part of the CAN-Bus installation and enables cross domain communication and connected services. The Gateway is the central communication node within vehicles. Several bus systems are connected to the Gateway. The Gateway distributes data securely between all bus systems and the outer world.

Why on earth would you ever want to remove one?

Hello Keith, I am not certain where it is on your model, guessing is only going to force you to unnecessarily dismantle your car piece by piece as it is a small item and can be hidden in the smallest of spaces.
What I suggest you do is take a step back, complete the missing details in the Your Account section, and post an introduction in the 'Introduce Yourself' thread, then repost on this thread with the full details of exactly what you have experienced to Date for the forum to respond to, it sounds like the problem could be a SAM rather than the CGW you have been advised but I'm sure others will add to this in due course.

Disconnect the pump in the boot. Any device on the CAN bus can cause issues around the car.
It can cause all those issues if it gets wet.
Do NOT close the boot lid while pump is disconnected.
Also make sure the boot unlocks correctly using the physical metal key before doing anything else.

Central gateway is front footwell. Unlikely to be the issue.

Start saving. It's now a matter of time before the pump fails.
Corrosion will have started on the circuit board and it will sadly eventually fail.

If you've reassembled I'd lose the foam around the pump. It just creates problems.
I knocked up a mount in TPU for mine on a 3d printer. Not the greatest but it works well enough. Also find out where the water got in and fix it.
