Central locking fault - half working w140 s class 1996

Hi

1996/7 W140 S CLASS

the central locking works only off the dash button ,but manual key only opens and locks drivers door
non of the other doors lock

I have only a manual key as the fob is missing for the remote.

i have checked all the fuses in the engine bay and the right hand side in the boot ,they are all good.

i recently had the drivers door handle out to paint the door ,but seems to all be coupled back ok

could it be an electrical fault ?

any hints would be appreciated to save me going round the car every time i park it and manually pushing
the other 3 buttons down

When you arrive, press the dash button to lock all the doors. Then open your door, get out and lock your door with the key.

Good short term hint -thanks

would prefer to fix though - tried taking fuses out and turning key left for 10 secs then right for
10 secs as per an old post but no luck

any other advice would be great
