Hi,

1993 220ce: Central locking works OK using the remote, but will not unlock. It does start to try (the door release starts to move and I can hear boot and filler) but immediately locks again, it's as though it just doesn't have the energy. Central unlocking works using the key.

I'm a bit baffled as vacuum is operating, so, could it be the remote? Alarm sets ok and auto electrician says not. Whilst investigating I thought I'd try opening the driver's window and see if turning the key to the left closed it - it closed. Alarmed the car, locked it, and guess what, the window came down. Eventually got the car locked with the window up only to come down the following morning to find both passenger windows fully down. The guys in the pub think it's really funny. All help appreciated; two seperate problems or are they related???

Cheers
Mike

I think thet you have an air leak in one of the pipes on the locks in one of the doors. It means taking off all of the panels. I agree it should not be an electrical problem

This problem mainly occurs when a door lock is sticky watch the buttons when operating the door locks and see if any are slow at operating ,or it could be the alarm needs to be set to operate the vacuum pump more, as if the alarm is not putting out the current long enough. i don’t think it can be the vacuum pump if its operating off the door locks

Thanks for the replies I & M. Was wondering if the cold weather was affecting things. I'll check the movement of the door locks and talk to the auto sparks again about the alarm. In the meantime I'll live with it 'till it gets a bit warmer.

Cheers

Checked the buttonsthis morning, no sluggishness, they seem to snap closed quickly but won't open.

I had this problem when I fitted a Microscan alarm system to my 300D W124. I had to extend the trigger pulse from the alarm unit to 3 secs to give the locking system time to operate - it locked OK, but wouldn't unlock.
