Central locking on 163 ML ?

Hello, could anyone advise me on my 2000 ML 163, the central remote locking has 'gone all strange' when i try and lock the car using the remote button all door locks 'bar the drivers door' go down then up then down again and lock, but the drivers door 'nothing happens'. I have tried the re syncing procedure in the manual but to no avail.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Failing this are there any recommended MB workshops in the Poole/ Bournemouth area. Thanks again.

You need a new door latch, did one the other day, about £100 for the part!

Strangely enough, when under rust warranty they replaced the drivers door, fitting all the old paraphanalia, about a day after this problem occurred. It needed a new lock mechanism fitting as the electronics werent sensing door closure!

Thanks SAM, when you say door latch, what does it entail as a part, and would you say a complete amateur like me remove and fit one.

You could with a few simple tools, the latch is the part of the door that close,s onto the catch plate on the piller!

So it is just a mechanical part as oppose to anything electronic and circuit related.
Why does the lock not shut via the remote, i assume it is a sensor issue within the catch.
