Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help me with a problem I'm having with my 2001 SLK 200 central locking.

The central locking is working with all the locks with the exception of the driver's door.

When operating the central locking I can hear the pump running for about 10 seconds and there is also a noise from the door while the pump is running.

From searching the forum I'm guessing the vacuum pipe in the driver's door is leaking. Does this sound like a reasonable assumption?

Is a DIY fix possible to the vacuum pipes? My main concern is the driver's door airbag.

If not, does the work need to be carried out by Mercedes, or can it be done by a non-Mercedes garage?

There are safe ways of handling the air bag, its a matter of disconnectig battery and waiting 15 mins, you can then take the panel off and unplug it. it is that simple.

http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb0.asp?TP=1

On the above site you can find your car, go to coverings and evey fixing is shown for the door panel.
The vavuam pipe sounds like it has just come off.

It turns out the tension in the vacuum pipe snapped the connector on the lock unit clean off. It looked as if the vacuum pipe was too short.

Mercedes price approx. £300.00,
Blue Peter price £0.00

I used 1" of tubing which located tightly into the hole in the lock unit (think the pipe was remote control car fuel line) along with some heat shrinkable tubing, both leftovers found in my tool box.

Three and a half years on, and it's still going strong...

SLK Locking problem

Hi guys,

i apologize if i have posted this in the wrong place, i am a new member and cant find how to start a new post.

i have just bought a 2000 SLK 200, the central locking wasn't working when i bought it, being handy with electronics that didn't bother me. After a bit of research i went looking for the locking pump, only to find it wasn't there at all.

so that is obviously why it isn't working, my question is, can someone please tell me the correct part number for the pump for my car. It appears to have two vacuum pipes on that is joined via a "y" connector to two pipes and the other pipe goes straight to the pump. It has two looms of wires one with a black flat 5 pin plug on and the other white with about 16 pins but only 6 wires connected.

obviously i need the correct part number to get a replacement.

Thanks
