hey guys, im very sorry to say this is my first post and is not how i intended to start my benz ownership, i have a 2001 c220 cdi sport coupe. i installed a aftermarket headunit and a small amplifier in the car as it did not have a cd player, so now everything is fine, then i went out and locked the car as usual, come back unlocked it, drove the car got to my next destination, jump out and it doesnt lock! figured out this morning that if i point it at the sensor in the drivers door handle it works, and its not the battery as the spare doesnt work either, dont see what it could be im experienced in installing car stereos as i do it for a living but confused as to what this can be :S somebody PLEASE help me before i go crazyyyyy

yeah it works mate, i have no idea what it could be, i had to run 0awg cable through the grommet in the engine bay but thought i did not disturb any wires, also i disconnected (and reconnected) the window switch on the drivers side, and the plug for the buttons on the centre console (i.e the esp switch and central locking switch) but they were reconnected fine :S any help at all at this stage is really appreciated, thanks for your reply mate

Is the spare key any different?

Have a look at the fuses in the boot on the left under a panel.

yeah mate checked the fuses, also retraced all my amp wiring (and removed it incase it was causing interfearance [6 HOURS LABOUR ]) and there were no faults, took all the plugs out that i had previously removed and cleaned them lightly and put them back in, still no luck and the spare key is the same :S dont understand how this can happen! does anyone know where the reciever is?

Sure that I have seen somewhere that the radio system is part of the alarm, this was the case on the 129s, and this is consistent with what has happened

I suspect its unrelated to the amp install.

I would be looking at the aerial on the rear screen at the top
