change inners of a c220 key fob

hi im new here and hello all,i am having a problem with my new car its a merc c220 cdi elegance se estate 2003,

the key fob is cracked on one of the buttons, lock one to be exact and i have difficulty in locking it the unlock is fine tho,it seems to be very tempermental sometimes ok sometimes not.

if i bought a new key fob is it possible i can change all the inners to the new fob,

ive found out how to get the batteries out do i have to reset anything if i change the batteries and also the inners to another fob,

Hello and welcome

Yes it comes out of the case by putting a thin knife inbetween the case and the nylon strip, and release the catch as in the picture,,and it all slides out


On white nylon strip in the picture you can see the catch that clip into the case

Just buy a key from Ebay with a good case and nothing to program. Do check the soldering where the press button tactile switches are soldered down

hi is it possible i can use a 3 button fob instead of a 2 button or will this mess my system up and are the inners interchangeable?,

Some remotes have 3 switches and some have only 2 only by opening it up will you know

thanks im just trying to take it apart now and i cant seem to get the white plastic peice out do i use a knife between the white plastic and outer case or between the white plastic and circuit board

have managed to get it all aprt now and it is a 3 button remote and works perfectly without the case so think all will be well with new case thanks for all your help,
