changing brake pads on an s class

As above,my car has just come back from my local dealer having had some work done under warranty and they have advised me that both the front and rear pads need replacing.The question is how difficult are they to do,the car a 2002 s 320 cdi.Phoned my local dealer who i use for servicing and they have quoted me £159 inc vat fitted,just wondered if i could fit them and save a few quid in the process.Any help and info would be welcome.

They are simple to change and this does not take long,,is the car a 210 or 211

You just knock the pins out and retract the pistons and just as normal brakes

And fit good quality pads.. the cheaper ones do squeal and fade under heavy braking

Do get the new sensor wires they are twin why and cant be re used

Be like me if you never use the brakes they will last forever and it helps on fuel to, with a bonus in that the wheels do not get dirty

With a big roaring V8 at the front, I feel it necessary to apply the brakes once in a while.

What if it is a W211 with SBC?

Do I need to disconnect the main battery in the boot and the aux battery at nearside under the bonnet?

On disconnecting the main battery in the boot don't shut the boot door else there will be a problem opening it again.

You can always make sure that your key will operate the boot lock first,,if it does noit then fix it,,and or lay a blanket over the rear wing with the boot open,,then it cant close.

Yes with SBC both batteries off and pump the pedal 20 times,, then all as a normal car

You cant change brake fluid yourself has to be done on STAR with SBC

I did it in Feb this year, the SBC keeps activating and fluid kept circulating.

Just knock the pins out and retract the pistons! What, no bolts to undo? I have to do mine very soon, down to appros 3mm on the rear! One gripe about the comp warning device, it tells you the pads are worn, but it dont say front or rear, so I had to take one of each off.

Also on the subject of the W220, is it poss to make the doors mirrors retract automatically when you have exited the car?
