Hey everyone, long time no posting!

So, the restoration on my 90 560SEL continues. The transmission however has grenaded. Now i have 2 options, I can have the one in the car rebuilt, orrrr, i can grab one from an 89 560 that i found in a wrecking yard that is being sold for $1500. Have that one rebuilt before it gets put in, and then have it installed. Does anybody know if you can make an 89 tranny work in a 90 560?. I just dont want to make that big of a purchase to find out it wont work.

As far as paying for it goes im not worried about it....restoring it is going to cost alot of money either way...

Opinions?

I had a bit of a drill down in the epc

and found this, which scared the phlegm right out of me.

and this. As far as I can tell, there seem to be two transmission options for the 560SEL, but I can't tell the difference. You could try checking the part number of the one from the dismantlers. Better still, get the VIN number, and dial it up on the Russian MB club site, and that might tell you which box was fiitted to that car. The chances are it's the same box.

Hope it helps
