Hi everybody ...

After reading most of the threads on lowering suspension ... i finally come to a decision to just change the spring pad ... but haven't check the one that I have now ... prefer to maintain the ride even with a few mmm drops ... and I'm going to use #1 all around (hopefully the one I have now is #5) ...

I would really appreciate if somebody could let me know (and perhaps everybody here), how difficult to change the spring pad? Do I still have to remove the coil spring? I am for sure will ask the expert to do so, but at least need to know how difficult to do the job, so that I can estimate how wuch will I spend for changing the spring pad ....

I will post some pictures of my E200 before and after installing the pads.

Cheers

You will be able to see the nipples on the spring pad at the top of the spring at the spring turret I am sure the only come in three sizes l.ll.lll nipples. I don’t know if the E Class will be different. The springs will have to be removed to fit the pads.

As you might be wasting a lot of time and effort if your car already has the pads with "one nipple" , you need to confirm this before you go any further.

To get a better view up into the pads which are located on top of the spring and tucked into the metal holder, take one of the front wheels off and then you will see the number of nipples on the lower circumference of the pad.
The front pads will either have 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 nipples next to each other, and they drop down from the lower rim of the pad.

1 being the thinnest pad and 4 being the thickest on (W124 chassis) front.

At the rear it is 1, 2 or 3 only.

Regards
