Hello all,

I am trying to change springs on a 2000 (X) CLK W208.....
Would I need to remove the caliper, Hub and shock absorber to change springs ? Is there a simpler way or should I say a correct method of changing springs ?

Thanks Everyone

Hi Ammer,
The mercedes spring compressor tool fits inside the spring and compresses it, and allows the spring to be removed by only taking off the lower shock absorber bolt.

If you are using a conventional spring clamp, then it may be necessary to remove other items, or release the lower ball joint to allow room to swing the spring out.

I would clamp the spring as best as possible with what you have then see if you can remove it, if not then release the shock, and lower ball joint untill you have enough clearence.

Do use a good spring compressor, life is short as it is, very dangerous things are springs
