I've just bought a 70000 mile 500 SEL that is a peach of a car.

Looked on site here and recomends Lancaster Insurance where quote was £400 .

Any views on other brokers - can anyone steer me in the right direction as I only pay £120 for my 1960 Cadillac Fleetwood

Many thanks

Cheap insurance

I've recently bought myself a 2002 ML320 with loads of extras.

I searched all the major insurers and found direct Line to be cheapest
by over a hundred quid. £327. age 41, car on drive, tracker fitted,
9000 miles per annum 5 years no claims. Comprehensive with wife to
drive also.

If anyone knows of somewhere even cheaper, then I'm all ears!

Thanks,

classic car insurance

I just insured my 1994 SL320 for less than £400 with no NCB however some of the supposedly cheap ones eg Admiral and Tesco were looking for £1000 plus. this makes my SL cheaper to insure than my wifes Toyota Yaris and my E300D both of which have full NCB!

Peter Best gave a vg quote, cant remember who I actually used.

The secret is to get 'classic car' status which for most insurers means older than 10 years and used less than 6k miles. Mainstream insurers dont seem to offer this so use the classic car specialist brokers. MBOA insurance was around £750 with classic status but some way off the pace of Peter Best and the one I used (whose name I forget)

Insurance Costs

Insurance for bigger cars as gone crazy. My renewal has come in for my W124 280E 1995 which is my daily car at £360.00. Not to bad for full comp and NCD protected. After going round a very internet sites getting quotes for the same car and cover prices came in @ Lowest £275.00 Elephant and the highest @ £650 "Quote You Happy Mob" I DON'T THINK SO!!!

It pays to shop around every YEAR!!!!!

Hi

I use heritage with a restricted mileage of 7000 and pay i think £200 for the same motor ie 1987 500sel .Cus it does depend on personal circs.

The internet is gerat for getting good value by Try Heritage they are in Birmingham.

If you need the tel no email me .

best quote for my SL

Checked in my files, I went with Carole Nash who are based in the north somewhere (find on internet)

They were almost half of most quotes I had and have now agreed a value with me for the car if it ever should be nicked or written off. Highly recommended and will be looking to move my other vehicles to them when due.

Cheap insurance

Hi

This is my first posting on the forum, I've just bought a W124 300D :D :D. I got my insurance through Frizells (Liverpool Victoria). I've been with them for years. I've got two cars insured fully comp a Toyota Carina and the 300D. My total insurance premium for both cars is about £450. I changed from the Carina and a Sunny. Taking the Sunny off and adding the MB reduced my premium by £26!. I always phone around but most places quote me more for one car than Frizells do for two.

I live in Nottingham, full no claims, one other driver on both cars, 50 yr old, civil servant. Both cars are parked on the drive. Frizells number is 0800 272 333 and their website is www.frizell.co.uk.

get classic status if you can

In my experience if your merc is around or older than 10 years and you are not using it for daily commuting then this opens up a whole new dimension in insurance ie. classic car status

generally you will need to agree to a limited mileage 5 or 6kmiles pa.
there is no NCD involved
you can agree a value for your car ie. if its written off there's no arguing about what its worth. I actually got my value agreed as higher than the price i paid.

I used Carole Nash but one or two others also offered it.

The mainstream insurers who dont do classic came no where near the premiums offered by classic insurers.

Try www.confused.com

You need to register for the site, then enter a fair number of details after which it searches a large number of insurers for the best quote.

I pay £132 pa for my 1991 230TE (Age 45, TPFT, 9,000 miles pa, 9 years no-claims, parked off-road, Somerset). If I remember rightly, quotes for fully comprehensive started at around £200.

One other tip I got from www.moneysavingexpert.com (if you want to save money, visit this site!) is that premium is significantly reduced if you accept a larger excess.

I have no connection with either of these sites.

Cheers

with..... Diamond Insurance (for girls).. !!!?

Go figure.., but Direct Line wanted £600+.. so I'm happy.. (and not in the slightest bit camp!).
