Cheap MB's at auction

The HonestJohn website has a couple of MB examples in its auction report - OK, I know it's an auction and not retail in an MB dealer, but the cars shown would still have at least a couple of mths of their original warranty. For Avantgarde diesel auto's, with ordinary mileage, they seem *very* cheap:

Mercedes C220 CDI A/G auto, 2005/55, 42k miles £9,900s
Mercedes E220 CDI Avant Gard auto, 2005/55, 25k miles £13,600s

Basically makes a laughing stock of Glass's guide, Parkers etc at the current moment in time. Like the Rating Agencies on Bonds who potentially caused the sub-prime bust, consumers (business and private) will be given potentially disasterous information on a cars value and make very bad decisions accordingly! A product is only worth what a market is willing to pay, so a 30Grand Mercedes may only be worth 10 Grand, but the Car Bible could rate it at 30 Grand, causing a potential client to be out of pocket by 20 Grand should he have bought and then chosen to realise his assets value!

I hadn't really thought about that - just amazed by the pricing.

I had a (hand written) postcard from MB Direct a couple of weeks ago asking me about changing my car. They said they'll call in a few days to discuss. Astonishing that they would go to the trouble of writing and sending a postcard but then not bother to call. If they do, I would be very interested to know what mine is worth - now I do such low mileage I did think about dumping it and switching to a PCP.
