Take a look at the following website. Looks like a good idea to me.

www.pipelinecard.org

The idea is that if enough people sign up to buy fuel from a particular supplier, they will be given a discount card allowing them between 5 and 10p off a litre of fuel.

No catches it would seem. Nothing to pay and already 50,000 signed up.

Maybe worth a try.

I've seen this, but I don't understand how they can negotiate such a high discount. It doesn't seem to make sense, as duty on fuel is a fixed cost.

I have registered as well.
Any discount is more than welcome.
How can we make this post more noticable to get more people to sign up?

Lets get real chaps, a 10% discount on retail fuel price is almost double the margin that the average fuel retailer gets. At a guess I would suggest that the total margin available to everyone down the line is little more than 15%.

The main factor in UK fuel price is tax, and most of that is at a fixed rate per litre rather than as a %. This means that unless these guys have found a way of getting someone to sell at a loss it has to be at best wishful thinking.

It is worth saying that in my time in fleet management I was never aware of anyone that could buy fuel (regardless of volume) at even a 5% discount, so what is the chance of getting a better price than say your local Tesco offers when you are buying in 50 litre lots?

I could of course be wrong :)

Mark.

this last week I've travelled 160 miles Urban cycle. This has cost me around £10 in lpg and £5 in petrol . So I reckon I'm saving around 2/5 of the cost to run on petrol alone. This would save me around £1500 all in with motorway combined.
