Hi
On my 97 C230
It all started when the engine started misfire, no check engine light was coming this time
My mechanic noticed oil in the plugs so he replaced the PC Valve cover gasket, spark plugs, spark plug seals & Ignition wire and the misfire stopped for about 2 weeks.
Then one day when I was driving on free way, the engine started misfire and check engine light started coming.
Then my mechanic advised me that I have to replace the MAF sensor.
He replaced the MAF sensor and air filter, and cleared the check engine light.
The message on his computer that he uses to check was like., 'PC Valve standoff to its max .......'.
After few hours of driving the Check Engine light is again ON, but I did not noticed any engine misfire. May be when I was stopped at red light, I felt once a very slight misfire .
Can some one please advise, what could be the problem.

Thanks

This is always a hard question, when the MAF goes down, other things deviate from their stored settings, its possible that the LAMBDA sensor put the light on, if the car stays driving OK you can get the fault code removed

Need the fault code read and the details.

Hi
My mechanic cleared the fault code, the decsription of the code was
' Self Adaptation limit is to its max...'
After the code is cleared, the check engine light is gone.
I drove for about 50 kms and the check engine light didn't come.
But my car is behaving strange now, when I brake my car on downhill rd and try to stop, my car gives me feel that it is shaking or it could be slight misfire. This also happened when I was driving on a free way and I had to do a sudden stop.
please advvise what is the problem.

Put up the fault code (not the description) and the first 6 digits of your cars VIN.

The reason for this, as I understand it, is that the fault description can often be generic and differ according to car type and model.
