Checking the engine oil

I randomly check hot and cold, hot gives a higher reading on dipstick.
As you can see from the pics in my post, the "HOT" pic was taken after the engine had been stopped for 5 mins. Had I left it 10 mins, I'm sure that more oil would have dripped down into the sump and given a higher reading, but I'm happy enough with the results. I will check it again after a drive, but allow it to cool down 15 min's instead of 5 min's, and we will see what reading I get then. But the bottom line for me is, once I'm sure that I have not overfilled it at change interval, it should be OK.
