The nearest Mercedes dealer to where I live is currently undergoing some upheaval.

So imagine my lack of suprise when I receive through the post today a glossy letter and information pack from my local BMW dealer telling me that he is more than happy to service my "Mercedes-Benz passenger car"  for me or even sell me a new/used BMW or Mercedes.

Hmmmmmm, I wonder if M-B take time out to try and poach BMW customers from their BMW authorised franchises?

S.

p.s. sorry for swearing so much guys :)

Did you see the advert BMW used recently?

It read something like -

At last a Mercedes can bring you driving pleasure

It accompanied a photo of a Merc tractor unit delivering a transporter full of BMWs...

Quite witty.

I'm perhaps fortunate in having the best of both worlds. I run a BMW 318i Touring auto as a taxi, and a 200TE auto as my private car. I also have a 190e which I have just finished using as a taxi. I'm afraid you just cannot drive a Merc in the same way as a BM! If you want to press on, a BM does exactly what you want it to do. A Merc has a think about it and always catches one out! So I use the BM for work, and relax in my Mercs

Tabs,

I think your evaluation is spot-on.....although I expect those with Sport or Kompressor models may have a slightly different view of things !

I have a 230TE (auto), 190E (man) and 520SE (man) (all over 10 years old, and all 110K+!).  The MBs hide the mileage like no other cars, and are great for the long, luxury cruise (auto's a must)  - but if I want to have fun, I take the 520 (great engine and slick gearbox, with solid/sporty handling).

But if I had to have just one car, it'd be the 230TE, no question!

Cheers

Hi all,

I have just seen the advertising picture. My comments are NICE TRUCK, let me see what it can do.

What the probably didn't tell you were. They were all the new 7series which broke down while testing. They didn't produce a truck big enough for em to collect em all up. Having brought a FLEET from MB they can now continue to wheel em back to BMW, in STYLE.

Regards
