My daughter has just thrown up while sitting in the front passenger seat, and needless to say it has gone EVERYWHERE. Poor thing got carsick....

Door trim/pocket, side of the seat by the door, under runnners, inside the casing where the seat control buttons are etc.

Any advice as to what extent I need to go to to 'clean' it properly? Do I need to strip down parts of trim etc?

May sound daft but get someone else to do it. I chundered in my own car once (had to go to work, wasn't feeling very well) I got the guy that vallets all the cars at the office to do it. Best £25 I ever spent. He even got rid of the smell.

For the dirty TVs and remotes I use dialuted bath room spray and a tooth brush, re the doors etc, I would just use warm water and washing up liquid.

A bathroom spray container make a handy spray for the dash, and you would not get enough water to do any damage.

Start by getting the worst of it up with a wet cloth, then work down using a toothbrush on the vents and grill, you do not have to spray directly onto these bits, as the tooth brush will take it. Another good pruduct is keyboard cleaner not easy to buy over the week end. You can have it like new in ½ an hour in the morning.
When done get some Matt plastic cleaner, make sure it is matt, spray it all over, wipe off and it will be like new.

Wow, this reminds me of a scene in Pulp Fiction!
Surely you need a vacuum cleaner to get rid of all the lumpy bits?
Sorry I read this post.

Hahahahahahaha,great :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just adding something here, travel sickness is partly down to the ride of the car and Volvo did a recall on one, as have ford on a few. The Swedes also did some test on the adhesives and materials used in cars, that also contribute to sickness, Volvo and MB are at the top of this list

An Acura NSX- Acura is the name used by Honda for the sporty models in North America.

Now I've got to mention that I sooooooo nearly bought an NSX at auction in Japan - ended up buying a Skyline instead (much cheaper, but the NSX would have been a wiser choice, since it would have actually increased in value).
Ayrton Senna was my God back then.

This is how chinese whispers come about - I was trying to work out the link between:

Child has been sick in car..........
..............Now I've got to mention that I sooooooo nearly bought an NSX

Now that's what I call going off at a tangent. I only asked a simple question.

Tried lots of clear up ops but car still pongs - will probably have to give it to a valeter.

It helps to leave the doors open if you can. That should clear it.

Your post did not get too far out of shape, compared to some, you got off light.

yes, we're not very good at keeping on track (although you have got it back very nicely). I personally think the valeter option is best. If it's only the inside they probably wont charge the earth and are used to such unpleasent tasks.

May I suggest "Joy Rides" and sick bags? My son (7) suffers from travel sickness to, and I did when I was little so I know how horrible it is.

I'm really sorry, that was my selfish indulgence (Feeling guilty now).

Have you ever spilt milk on the carpet? I reckon that's even worse.

'Shake an vac' aint no good for this. Wash and wash again with plenty of water until the depth of absorbsion of nastiness is reached. Then dry out fully before applying the conditioner/fragrance enhancer.

Am I starting to sound like a hairdresser?

Try some Zoflora too, it may make the car smell funny but it's better than vomit. Have you got all the crusty bits up now?

Try the site here for some good info

one nof the best masks - for milk anyway - is vanilla essence sprinkled about liberally

If you ever have a leaking milk container in the boot or in the car or in a caravan / boat this is the easiest way of sorting it.. dont know about puke though

I suffered terribly with it from childhood Malcolm. I still get travel sick if I'm not driving, strangely enough I never get travel sick even after hours behind the wheel.

As for the smell after the sick has been cleaned up. I also had a full 4 pint of milk spillage in the boot of a previous car, I ended up resoaking the whole area with a mixture of disinfectant and warm water. Then after a while covered the whole boot in that absorbent "grit" for picking up oil spills. ( Can't remember the name for it :p ) Did this on a nice sunny day boot lid open whole time, then vacuumed.

It's great stuff, we use it at work all the time. It's called Chickensh!t, but often gets referred to as 'Sorbsil' :)
