Hi, I want to turn of the airbag on the passanger side of my A class so that I can use my child seat that I bought before I bought the car and did not realise you have to buy a mercedes child seat with a chip in to automatically shut off the air bag, can I just unplug the large red connecter under the seat and leave it disconnected or will this cause a problem? I know on some models the front seat is removable and I have been told that if you disconnect the seat connector and the micro switch that tells the car that the seat is out this works but my seat is not removable(only by unbolting it) so I do not know if this will work. any info would be welcomed.

you can unplug the sensor and fit a 3Ω resistor, or buy a seat from Mother care that works with an MB

Thanks for your reply Malcolm, where would I put the resistor? does it go in the plug under the seat or somewhere else, the reason I would like to do it this way is because we already have a good child seat and will only need it for a few more months, therefore I do not really want to buy a new one unless we have too. Thanks Mark.

Put the seat and Little One in the back? No seat sensors there - and it's safer too.!

In that case, you have 2 options. You could simply unplug the seat sensor. This will trip off the whole SRS system. (You can live without it). Then when you no longer need the seat in a few months time, plug it back in and have the srs reset.
Alternatively, put the seat in the back. After all, it's only for a few months.

Does anyone know which seats from Mothercare are compatible with MB's?

The Mercedes child seats are really expensive!!
