hello all, just picked up my first mercedes and was thinking of asking bluefin to reprogramme my existing bluefin handset to work on the cls 320 cdi, i know from experience in my ford transit that the chips really work etc but im worried that it may make the cls cdi less smooth and maybe alter the smooth gear changes? i know the power will be amazing but i dont want to alter the nature of the car too much
regards

Go for Brabus instead. That way, you will not void your warranty. It's even installed by MB!

You gain 48 Bhp/80 Nm with this.

I had it installed on my car last year ago and it has made a great difference. Performance aside, it has also improved fuel consumption.

MB Watford told me they don't recommend the Brabus chip for cars with more than 18k on the clock.

That's right. More than 2 years old and/or 18K mls - forget it. They won't do it (my dealer told me the same).

Somewhere in the forum, I have done a full report after fitting it.

The overtaking ability is the best part....

Sorry for late response. Been away for the bank holiday.

Yes, the output are the same. +48 Bhp/80Nm.

I had to tell my insurance company the Name of the kit as well as the persentage increase... 24%. They also wanted to know the value of the kit. So not cheap!

But if you don't tell them, have an accident and suddenly you loose it all. Not worth it in my opinion.

My sentiments entirely.

thanks for replies....so if i cant have a brabus chip has anyone tried the bluefin on a mercedes? ( i have in others and they were fine) and those that have had any kind of chip done i know the performance will be better but does it make the engine noisier? and does the auto box on the 320cdi still change as seamlessly?

Funny you should say that.... my auto box is more responsive and engine note is more muted. In fact, the 320 Cdi engine sounds like a nice V8!

Weird, I was about 4 or 5 months into mine.... what insurance company?

I am with (well, the company) Direct Line. Cost me an extra £174 for the year.... ****** rip-off really (especially as I only pay just under £400 a year anyway).

I am with Saga through the AA.I guess they don't like senior citizens running round in high performance cars.I was going to get £136 refunded for 5 months use of a £412 policy.
MB Watford wanted £1370 to install it.In January when my insurance is due I'll shop around a bit.

Hm... price has gone down a little bit. MB Ipswich charged me just under £1500 for it. Expensive, but boy.... well worth the fun. Your last suit has no pockets right?!

I'd read on this board £1250,but it may have been a while ago.
Certainly won't go to Ipswich for it!

Well, it was a good 6-9 months ago so price have probably changed. MB Colchester said they couldn't do it..... Ipswich came to the rescue!!

I was the first with a C-class that they had done and the guy who installed were more excited than me I think :D

decided to trade in my sl500 for a family car!! 2006 320 cdi/cls
is there a reason for not fitting it to cars above 18K miles/2years?
is it only trought merc dealers or can it be a self install kit?
thanks

It was Brabus Germany who told me about the warranty limitations. Not MB. However, once fitted, MB told me the same.

Of course you could fit it after 18K mls. At that kind of mileage, the car is not even run in yet.

1250 for a chip that costs ££s not thousands, surely someone can make a dump of the chip and make it available for others to write their own chip
