Hi All,

Has anyone ever used the services of any company for chips and scratches. Are they any good generally. How do they go about getting rid of scatches and chips?

I searched on Google and found this company below:

http://www.chipbusters.com/FLASH/index2.htm

If anyone has any experience with using a service like this can they let me know? Does it work?

Thanks

You could try a company called Chipsaway, have a look online, I've used the one in Angmering west sussex... and was very happy with the results on my last car a Denim Blue TT.

I will be paying them a visit this weekend, to get a price for a few chips on the C180K coupe I've just bought, I think I'll be looking at around £30 plus per chip/scratch.

Good luck ;)

Thanks. Does anyone know where the colour code is located for CL500's? I can't seem to find it in my Owners Manual.

Dent master is part of paint master the largest independant smart repairer within the UK all the staff are Limouisine builders, panel beaters, welders, and experienced body shop technicians.

Chips away are a franchise, sold to any muppet with time on theyre hands, and who usually make things worse, then charge you for the priveledge, then you end up paying double to get a real company to sort it.

£75.00 is cheap, but there is a reason for it. Go for an approved company, I only let paintmaster dent master wheel master touch any of my cars (they are approved by Bowker BMW, MINI, Ribble Valley Bentley, Aston Martin,Mercedes, And Audi and stratstone and pendragon, to mention a few, I have an XC90 with them currently, and they do all my work on my merc. They know they're stuff.
Just be careful as a bad smart repairer can make the job ten times worse, I know when I ran a vauxhall dealership sales dept, I had a rush job done by chips away, all over machine polish. needed a full re spray after the guy burnt the paint.

Hi, my car has a few stone chips and a two minor scratches. Firstly, do you have the web address for Dent Master/Paint Master.

Secondly, because the chips and scratches so minor (compared with most cars it's spotless), I am thinking about doing it myself. More for learning than anything else. I have got the paint code from Mercedes Service Centre and I will get the touch up paint from them.

Any opinions or advice on this?

I think Its Pete O Callaghan who you need to talk to, he's the Guy who deals with booking and advice on these things you can get him on 01254 681600.

Doing it yourself is easy to do time and effort wise, but skill wise you could make it worse. but like anything if you never try you never know!

If you do try it touch the paint in with a rolled up peice of masking tape to make a very fine taper, dont use the brush though its not accurate and can put too much paint on.
Clean the bonnet/bumper and slowly build up the paint using the masking tape, remembering it will sink back when it dries
You can put laquer on it too, slowly build it up to stand proud of the paint level
When its dry wet it and flat it back with some wet soapy 1200's gently in small circles
Then take some g3 compound and rub it again with water, small circles, medium pressure
Then finally use some good quality wax ie Auto Glym ultra deep shine

Or ring paint master :)

Thanks.

What I have so far found with a lot of garages and workshops is that either you have to go to them (and are never in London area's) and they are only open weekdays. Monday to Friday is nearly impossible for me.

I may give them a call.

By all means have a go, you can always rub it off with some paint thinner if it doesnt work for you, there should be some good advice on touching up paint chips on the web if you search..

I had some stupid so-and-so open there car door onto the side of my C200 Classic, only had it a month. He left a dent on the passenger door, paint hadn`t broken but i could see the dent quite clearly. A friend gave me this guys number called him up arranged for him to come round and fix it while I was at work. He is marvellous, cant even see where the dent was. Only charged £35.00. Barney the moblie dentman. I M me and I`ll give you his number. Covers all Essex.
