Since last tuesday night I have clocked up nearly 800 miles belting up and down from sunny Ruislip to my out-laws in Irby,Cheshire and my wifes w202 has behaved impeccably.A nice cruise at 85mph.I have to do it again on Sat and then a short spin to my brothers place in Newbury, bring it on!Unfortunately it is due a service in Jan.I am scared!! (Wifey had a knee op on 18 Dec so can,t drive)

ps the outlaws have just bought a c250td elegance on a r plate with 46000 MBFSH on it.It looks identical to ours and they bought it due to the reliability we have got with our model.

Thought we weren't allowed to praise MB on here?

That's right. If we were allowed I would have mentioned my brother drove Poole to Wirral and back (around 600miles round trip from Poole) and averaged 67mpg in his new model A160cdi. Measured tankful to tankful.

Daveenty, the strange thing was that on the M56 a traffic police Volvo sat behind me for 10 mins and did nothing.I am sure he would have radioed my registration through and noticed I was from down south but they pulled off at the next available junction.Goodwill to all men maybe?

I thought it was high time to big up the marque!

So, how many times do you have to change the gearbox oil and MAS over the week then?
Seriously though, many of us spend hours every day in our Mercs, pounding the motorways. I covered 26,000 miles last year and I'm small fry compared to some. I did this in my 'notorious' 2000 E240 and my E270 and aside from a MAS failure on one occasion on the 240 and even then she kept running and got me home, I haven't had cause to doubt my decisons at any time. Admittedly most cars can claim similar reliability these days (how many miles do Mondeos and Vecras clock up annually) but no faults are still no faults. Plus over the nearly 300 hours I've spent in the car this year, I still find it a lovely place to be and jump out after a 150 mile journey able to do 8 hours work and still look forward to the drive home again.
