Hello there, just a small query regarding the front cig lighter socket on my W211. Can't seem to find the associated fuse for this. Where exactly do i find the right fuse? Many thanks.

If it`s a permanent feed going to it rather than ignition fed it`s usually the same fuse as the radio. Is anything else not working as it`s unlikely to have it`s own fuse.

Well, by coincidence, my mobile phone wasnt charging properly earlier this week, so after trying a new lead and it not making any difference I tried scraping the accumulated fluff out of the bottom of the cigarette lighter scoket with a needle file..... with the ignition on.. D'oh! - big spark and blown fuse
So I was out this morning to find that 15A fuse Number 1 in the engine compartment fusebox had blown. I know mine's a W210 but Id be surprised if there was much difference in a relatively simple component. - And there was a list of which fuse does what inside the fuse box. :)

In case you're wondering . turns out my phones knackered..

Its fuse 1 on the early 210s but fuse 2 on the later ones, and the 211 is nothing like it with far more in the way of electrics.

Some of these things are so easy to do when your mind is on something else:-|

The fuse is in the drivers side front fuse box under the bonnet.

Its a 15amp and is off set in the fuse board, this changes as to if the smokers pack is fitted and becomes ignition or perminant live.

Hi Malcolm.. silly me thinking Merc would make it straighforward ;) I hate to think how many fuses the latest S-Classes have!

Does anyone know how to replace the light in the lighter/ashtray compartment, mine went last week.
