hey, any clues...

i am after a road angel having just picked up an sp40 via a ****** gatso. had a look in my 2000 sl320 edition and no ciggy lighter. unless i am a total fool, it hasn't got one. bang goes the angel then. i know it can be 'hard wired', but that sounds tricky and costly.

anyone else got the same problem? not good really, as stuff like in-car chargers need these sockets.

it is definitely a car, i have just checked. the extra 2 wheels give it away.

i suspect that there was a non-smokers pack on these cars, as with bmw in the uk. ie, the pack is a cubby hole rather than an ashtray and lighter.

If there is no cig lighter run two wires to a 12v caravan unit This you can fit in glove box if you do not want to fit a cig lighter.
You can then power any accesory you want..

you might think so but apparently not.

The ashtray/ lighter in the SL is an option. If you don't want it you get a very plush coin box where it would normally be. you also have a choice for the centre console as well. I have two very nice drink holders but there is also and option for a set of CD trays.

As for 12v supply you can do it (the wires are there even if the lighter isn't)
you just need to get to it...

Best method would be to get a wire run out to the passenger side under the dash with some form of power clip then rewire the angel to fit this clip.

I would say that it would take about half hour... (most of that will be getting at the loom and running the wire through.

Glovebox ??? sorry we dont get one of those either :lol: Closest you get is a deep box under the armrest and a sunglasses box at the top of the dash :roll: oh and a couple of hidden compartments in the doors...

Sorry about that i stand corrected about glovebox. the caravan unit is a very neat 12v outlet. dont know where you can fit it !

Actually think that it is a good idea not to have one 8) It stops you piling the car full of CDs for someone else to nick :-(
