Hi, I have only just realised by browsing a bluetooth forum that my car ( '94 E class) has the above Nokia carkit, including Bluetooth, built in. Now I know I have Bluetooth I want to remove the car cradle from the centre console but I cannot figure out how it comes out.

I have the in-dash 6 CD player and the phone mount attaches down the left hand side of the CD unit. I assume the CD changer comes out some how to enable the mount to be fitted, could anyone tell me how please ?

Also while playing with my newfound Bluetooth I have been having problems with the CK-7W re-detecting my phone. Apparently this problem is common and it is due to 'lazy' fitting of the carkit, and the installers not supplying an 'ignition detect' feed. I am familiar with the old method of powering such devices through the ignition, but with this kit I need to know is the ignition detect an additional wire or do I just replace the constant feed with an ignition sourced one ( cig lighter maybe ) ?

If anyone can answer either or both I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

Neil

It is likely that it has been fitted with a 'no holes' bracket from Dashmount. If so just go to www.dashmount.co.uk you can then select your car and the installation instructions for the mount.
On the Nokia Kits there is normally an additional ignition switched live (I'm thinking the blue wire but I maybe wrong as I have been to bed since I last fitted one)
I find the CK-&W detects Nokias very well, are you using a different make of phone?

Hi Blobcat thanks for the fast reply.

I have tried it with a 6230i and a 6680 and it detects it no problem, it is when I go out of range and come back it does not redetect.

I have read that this is because my car kit is on permenant live (this can be seen by the blue LED on the controller being on all the time, and not only when I have ignition on). I think the idea is that when you turn off the ignition and then come back to the car later it reconnects on the ignition turn, but mine cannot as it is always on.

What I am worried about is patching a live in and damaging something, so I wanted to know is the ignition live an additional wire or do I replace the current ( 'on all the time') live.

I know it would probably be a guess but where would you expect they have put the control module, under the passenger dash maybe?

Thanks again,

Neil

Hi, thanks you are right with the 'Dashmount' website that helps me a great deal to get the bracket out.

Cheers,

Neil

elab,
As Blobcat says, it should have a constant and a switched live. Mine has both. I can't find my manual (its probably in the car which is out at present) but there is an install manual on the Nokia website just look at product support.
The wiring is
Black -ve
Yellow - mute for the radio
Blue - ignition sensing with 1a fuse
red - Constant +ve with 2a fuse

Hope this helps
