cl 420 suspension problem

Have just aquired 1998 cl 420 the rear suspension seems to be to high and the ride makes you feel sea sick, it has the automatic damper system fitted but pressing the button makes no differance the light on the dash is not illuminated showing faliure. Any ideas?

rear shocks have failed at a guess or spheres, is the ride hard ?
replace the rear shocks with standard setup and forget about self levelling system.

The ride is very soft at the back but just passed MOT?

Has it worked before? Is the high ride height a new thing?

I wonder if you could get the codes read from the ECU, but then again if there is no MIL light, will there be codes?

Check that the leveling rod is connected and adjusted correctly( might be adrift and on max). check correct springs are fitted.

I got car with suspension problem iv now booked in with local merc dealer to have codes read but as you say will it pick up faults if no warning lights are on, time will tell
