CL500 ABC Specialist

Hello,
I appreciate there have been a lot of threads regarding ABC systems.
I am looking for a specialist in the Sheffield / South Yorkshire area that understand the system and that can help with either a valve seal set change or lock solenoid clean. I have spoken to several "specialists" who clearly have no idea what they are doing.
I have had the system flushed, filter changed, Rodeo and I have the front drivers side sag. It will sag fully in 5 hours if the car is hot however when cold it takes 5 days to sag? No fluid leaking so an internal system issue and no other noticeable issues rides well and when it has sagged if I press the ABC button it is corrected immediately. The car has done 32k, 2004, in fantastic condition, always garaged, always serviced by a specialist. I've had it 6 months. The issue I have is the specialist I use wants £3600 to fit a new valve block and wont do the other work, only genuine Mercedes parts etc......
Can anyone assist please?

I’m not sure if I know anyone oop north. Would you be willing to travel?

Valve seal replacement should cost you £3-400 I’d have thought. That’s what it cost me!

Ok. So in order of distance from you there are:

Welwyn Merx in Welwyn Garden City. Phil & Gary did all of my ABC work (oh so much). @Welwyn Merx

Star Motor Services in Reading @star Ian there has a number of forum members as his regulars.

AMF Automotive in Tonbridge @alexanderfoti Alex there is a forum member who set up his own Indy to twiddle with ABC because he loves it that much!

Alex Crow in Stowmarket, a regular again for several members.

I too have come across a number that are uninformed on ABC.It is refreshing to learn that there are some Indies that have that capability.

To update, Merx and Star are not interested - wont work with non OE parts (seals) etc. Still looking sadly.

Try Wayne gates. A huge trek for you but round corner from a tube station.

Maybe supply chain / parts supply is putting them off. Worried about having a car sitting around waiting for an obscure part on back order while already busy

Welwyn Merx? Did you speak to Phil the owner? He has about ten valve blocks’ worth of seals that I gave him after doing the work on my car!

Make sure you ask for Phil Tutt, the owner. He’s the one who likes a good ABC challenge!
There’s Phil & Gary, both fitters (Gary has been there donkeys years, new Phil only 2 years or so).

Phil is a good guy, he’s willing to take on something new. Not that this is new though as he did pretty much everything ABC related on my car (to the point of disassembling a strut to see if we could get the piston rechromed; we couldn’t). If anyone can help, he can.

You need to get the 3mu filter. They’re about £30. Don’t go for the magnetic aftermarket ones.

Yes sadly we declined to fit a seal kit, as we can’t guarantee a 100% fix, tried a few kits and not had an acceptable success rate, especially if the car had travelled miles for the repair.
Imagine getting a call from up north, a week later with the car having the same problem. Nightmare.
