I have a 3.5 yr old import (to UK) CL500 with 37K on it. When Igntion is switched ON it sometimes displayed ESP, BAS visit workshop. So I did. They took 12 days to fix it and charged 1800 stg.
The MB garage subsequently deducted 280 stg as a CHECK OIL LEVEL and VISIT WORKSHOP warning came ON after their oil service had been carried out the week before. This may (probably) have been associated so they reduced the bill. I put in a claim for goodwill to MB UK for the ESP BAS fault. They turned it down 100%. My previous car a S500 had an identical false warning and was similar in age.
My question is, do I have any chance of seeing some goodwill if I pursue it higher and; Does anyone else have a similar problem with their CL or S class or any class I guess, that could be added to my ammo when trying for goodwill aid?
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi

You don't say what they changed to cure it. I doubt very much that the over fill sign(which seems to come on even if 0.5 ltr of oil is over filled) had anything do with the BAS problem. They must of given you a breakdown or the parts were listed on the bill.

BAS ESP Warning lights

I had the same problem with my ESP and BAS lights illuminating on my E430. Whilst it was in for a service at my local independent MB garage they looked at the codes, which led them to a sensor on the braking system, which they felt was slightly corroded, they cleaned the sensor and to date I have not seen the fault reappear.

All I paid was the cost for the service, the moral of the story is that if you want to be ripped off go to MB, if you want the problem sorted by someone who values your custom find an independent MB specialist of which there are many.

I'm sorry to preach but every dealing with MB has been a nightmare.

Also there are lots of other threads with reference to this problem.
