Hi all.

I’ve recently discovered a strange issue with my electric sunroof on my beloved CL500.

When I go to open it, it opens an inch or so and then stops, so if for example I want to open it half way I have to keep pulling back on the switch over and over to get the sunroof into position.

Weirdly it closes fine as long as my finger stays on the button.

But then the problem arises again if I want to tilt the roof open, again I’m have to repeatedly press the button 3 or 4 times before its fully tilted as it keeps stopping.

I have swapped out the dome light assembly for a fully tested and perfectly working one, but the issue is still there, so I don’t know if the issue is wiring or mechanical?

The other thing I’ve noticed is that the inner sunroof blind/shade seems to catch on the sunroof as it closes and gets dragged along with it.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

Many thanks.

Kindest regards.

If it helps.. you might (stress might..) need to reset the sunroof switch by opening the sliding roof fully and then keep the button pressed the button for 5 seconds. Then repeat with the sliding roof closed. Same procedure for the tilt mechanism. I had the same issue on mine last week after being unused for several months during the winter, and it works fine now on 'one-touch' opening. As far as I can remember, closing the slide / tilt mechanism does require you to keep the the button pressed - a safety feature I think (see owner's manual?)

That said, it's also worth checking that the rails are lubricated properly.

Forgot to mention: I think you have to do the reset procedure if you've disconnected the battery at some stage - as was the case with mine.
