Hi everyone I’m new on here so please bear with me I’m trying to remove the rear window regulator drivers side, the window won’t go up or down it just clicks, I have removed the rear seat and side panels and have access to the regulator but I can’t see how it comes out, it’s as if the glass has come away from the regulator, I can see on the top edge there are two screws but that’s all I can see, do I have to remove the glass first? if so does anyone have schematics or a step by step guide any help would be great thanks

Found this on the tinterweb. There might be something you could glean from it.

Hope you fix it either way, and welcome to the forum:).

Hi, yeah got you.

The clue seems to me is the sliding white block. The window looks to locate in that. Its possible you dont have to remove the window glass just support it somehow. The mounting bolts on the regulator/motor panel look to be near the top and bottom of the assembly if you freeze frame the video. It looks to be quite a clever system, and considerably less hassle than some regulator systems i have come across in the past. Either way, sorry couldn't be more help. Maybe someone else can/will chime in with more info.

Regard's,

Nick S.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg Hi nick I had a good look there are two screws on the top of the window frame which I assume hold the top of the regulator and two nuts on the cross member that goes over the motor which are hidden under the plastic surrounding but I’m not sure how the window is fixed or held in place by the regulator to pull the glass down

Hi Nic,

Check this out. It may give a better idea. Looks like you are right about the x2 screws on the top holding the regulator. I reckon the window is mounted on its own subframe. So i still dont think you have to take the glass out, just get something to hold it in place when you remove the regulator frame.

See what you think?. Hope its some help. Maybe download the pic and flip the image?. Really wish i could help you more.

Regard's,

Nick S.

Hi Nicola,

Ok, have fun and stay safe.

Hopefully (and not dramatically) all will become apparent when you remove the mounting screws.

Regard's,

Nick.

Hi Nick I have completed the regulator repair it was quite straight forward, I did notice that you only need to remove the rear seat back if there are side airbags in the back, I have also put some videos on YouTube they aren’t the best as it’s my first time so please bear with me, if anyone has a look you need to type in “how to remove rear window regulator cl500” once again thanks for all your help
