Cla 220d gearbox issue

Hi guys, I own a cla 220d Amg line, driving home the other day on a 50mph stretch of motor way when all of a sudden a loud squeal then lost all gears, coasted for half a mile with warning signs all over the place, can’t remember all of them but they were red, the recovery people took me to a garage, the fault codes are p278798

Hi whiskey, mine is now fixed, after weeks of trying to get mine fixed with gearbox specialist ( by the way mine is a DCT that no one will touch on the south coast ) I had to put it into a Mercedes approved garage who themselves had to send my gearbox to my local Mercedes dealership who have the special tool to take my clutch out and refit the new one ( the tool itself cost £30,000, that’s why no one would touch it) I needed new clutch, new fly wheel, in the end it cost me £3000 to repair, I’m pretty sure you have a normal clutch on the A220, hope this helped

I have the exact same problem! Mine went this weekend come off a roundabout put my foot down then heard the same squeal all power gone and unable to put back into gear (do not put into gear consult workshop error on dash). Took it to my local garage who have given codes P07E600 and P071564. They cant touch it so im going to a local mercedes specialist...worried i may be looking at a new gearbox & clutch.

Ah thanks mate! Ha! Did you go to Mercedes dealer? I'm getting it recovered to a local merc specialist tomorrow hopefully I can get it lower maybe around 2k? Time will tell!

Hi there what did your problem end up been please as I have the same codes and multiple mechanics in my area are struggling to diagnose any help is greatly appreciated thank you
