I wouldn't want to burst any bubbles here but your ML is unlikely to ever reach the sort of cult status the Gullwing has. Sorry.
That said, any well kept example of a car will in time, as the numbers decline, become something of rarity if not automatically a classic.
If you're happy with it and the original build quality isn't as bad as widely reported then keep it. Just don't expect it to make you rich.

Thanks - you've burst my bubble (only joking!).

The build quality issue of early ML's (mine?) has been critised. BUT, having just sold my Jag, I feel that my ML is in every way, as well built, quieter, as solid and rattle-free as the XJ.

I intend to take it with us early next year, when we move to Spain permanently.
