Hi folks, Im new to this forum and hope you guys may be able to help. I have a large quantity of classic mercedes brochures and dealer literature. A recently departed friend had a lifelong interest in cars and kept all the stuff he collected during his life the house clearance team saw no use for it. It goes back many years to gullwing and fintail cars. Rather than list it all and bore you all to death my questions are :-

Is it potentially worth anything?( I don't want to sell to dealers in automobilia)
Would this be a good starting point to sell it all?

I will list it all if it may be of interest.

My first love is my 911 r recreation and this collection is truly only to be sold to further that project. I know that this would be considered the "right move" by its original owner.

Thanks for looking

andy

So "opinion sought?"

Hello

YES they are worth something, either as a complete lot (buyer collects) or individual items.

I collected brochures years ago and have some great ones.

If you go to any motorshow / classic car show etc there is usually a stall selling brochures. They would pay good money for a collection of them.

How many are you talking?

Agree with jibcl500 loads of pictures, long listing.

If you have some special ones or duplicates keep some aside and sell individually

Hi andy,

Fancy you seeing here. Indeed, I second/third what people have said before: the interesting stuff such as the 300SL w196 will make absolute premium money on ebay. I have the lewandowski limited edition book and god what an investment. (bit like the konradsheim/gruber book); secondly the fashionable stuff such as pagoda sl's and r107 will attract buyers who would like to complete their file folder.

Finally: you would be surprised how difficult it is to find a folder/pricelist/UK market specification of the more "common cars": W115 saloons, w123 T estate, fintail saloons( thats a w108 IIRC?) etc? If your stash has this included, you might be able to make some people really happy.

All the best,

Bert

Brochures

Hi again and thanks, Bert ; deserting the fold or multi interest?

I think its best if I catalogue and photograph thanks for the advice. I must say e bay isn't my favourite option but I'll go for it.

Bert ; deserting the fold or multi interest?

Multi interest i'm afraid. Moreover, with the 911 off the road I thought that I might as well let these old Mercs earn their keep :D

But that 300TE-24' cam effect is not quite the same as to what I am used to ;)

Best of luck with the sale, Andy!

Hi Haasad - did you sell those old Merc brochures you came across a year ago? I have just seen the message thread and it has gone cold. I would certainly be interested in any Pagoda brochures that you might still have. Did you compile a list? Thanks, Dave

If you have any brochures around 1995 for the S class W140 models I would be interested.
