I'm about to set into cleaning up the interior of a 1972 250CE (114), which is cream MB-tex upholstery and the standard veneer-effect dash. The car has been garaged for a couple of years, so the seats are a bit mucky and mouldy, but otherwise in good nick. The dash veneer is dull and cracked in places.

Any tips on how I should approach this job? Are there particular products I should be looking into? All help gratefully received.

Thanks.

MB-Tex is tough stuff, so it should withstand vigorous brushing with a nail brush and proprietary vinyl cleaner from Halfords. You might find more sophisticated thoughts in the 'detailing' section of the forum at http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopforum/index.php3.

Regarding the veneer, if it is badly cracked and you want to replace it, try searching on ebay. There are occasionally replacement wood trim kits on sale for 126 and 107 models, so maybe also for the 114.
