Just curious to know if anyone else has bought one of those new Flash car cleaning systems and if so what they think of it, or is it just another gimmick thing.

We have always just used a bucket and sponge in the past, but we have noticed our new car, being blue, does tend to get dirty really quickly and it's hard to get rid of the water marks and smears too.

Anway we bought one of those Flash thingys yesterday, although it's been raining too much to bother trying it out so far :p

Well from the blurb I am guessing that it has one of those filters in it, bit like the filter cartidges you use in your kitchen for stopping the limescale crap messing up your kettle and your cups of tea, and they do actually work....so you never know it may work.

I gather these Flash thingys are very popular in America. Also if you don't like it you can return it within a year for a full refund which can't be bad.

I would be interested in your report after you have tested it LB. it usually takes me a good 20 minutes to chamois off the SL after washing it and it always makes me wonder whether I am inducing scratches with the chamois due to air born grit etc.., The way i look at it is the less contact you have with the bodywork the better.

Some people swear by rinsing with rainwater. The rest of the week is supposed to be sunny so give it a go !!

Well other half washed the car using the Flash thingy today and I have to say we were both pretty impressed. It really did dry without any need to use a leather with not one smear or water mark on it, although it did take nearly the whole of the small bottle of shampoo that came with it. I would certainly recommend it for anyone that hates leathering their car off, but you still have to use a sponge or wash mit to clean it first of course. I will have to take a pic of it

Rather than using a chamois to dry your SL, try a 'silicon blade' - I think AutoGlym do one.
It takes about 1 min to wick away most of the water with this soft plastic blade, then finish off with a chamois about another minute. I've been using one for a year and have had no scratches, or damp sleeves from constant wringing.

I can vouch for the Flash Car Wash thingies. My car is black and after washing with the Flash gadget the car dries without a single watermark. I do tend to wash the wheels first though with ordinary shampoo 'cos I always spend ages with a brush getting to the back of the alloys (sad I know).
