Clicking turns to droning noise

Hi.
Just joined, so may as well ask if anyone has experienced a noise, best described as a ticking noise overtaken by a droning noise, seems to be from the rear of my car?
The model is a Mercedes slk55 amg automatic 2006 model.
Mileage 89,000.

I wonder if it is the rear differential ? I have heard of these going bad on the SLK55 before. (See Hoovies Garage on YouTube.). Probably best not to drive it until you are sure, they can eat themselves...

Broken exhaust bracket ?
Something rubbing on the prop shaft ?

Thanks to you both.
Had my usual garage go through all the usual checks for wheel bearings, brakes binding, inner handbrake. Unable to pinpoint.
Came to conclusion either possible crown wheel or propshaft....
Just wondering if anyone else had had the same issue?
