Have a 1984 Mercedes 300SD 126 chassis. The heat will not turn off in the car. Disconnecting the monovalve wire does not turn the heat off either and I have also noticed that I have power to the monovalve at all times in any climate control position. Any suggestions????? Any info will be appreciated.

Monovalve probs

A while since I had problem like this on my 124 but from memory:

I think the failure mode (no power) results in the valve staying open to allow hot air for defrost, so no surprises that you get hot when you take off the power, so powering on I think closes the valve. if you have power on and the valve is still open then I suspect the valve is kaput. If its the original then I would think this is likely.

Sometimes a sharp tap to the valve body can free it but it will start sticking again after a while.

I would get a few more opinions first before acting on my comments since I dont have the same model as you.

The W124 has a fan behind the glovebox that draws cabin air throught the grille on the sunroof control fascia down a tube presumably past a thermometer somewhere. I disconnected mine because it was noisy and the heating has gone bananas, all over the place, doo-lally, awol.

etc.

Could be worth checking the little begger out.
