I expect there may be a few posts like this over the next few months!

What should I expect from my 2003 C Coupe Climate control? Setting it on cold (18deg) does nothing (i.e. no "cold" air), I realise this is thermostatically controlled and not a simple on/off affair, but am I right in suspecting something is up, would I normally get a blast of cold air on a hot day? (I've only owned this car in the cold!).

My old A class AC could make ice cubes!

What should be my next step to a chilly interior? I want to sort it before the scorching summer we are going to have.

Cheers. So, Merc indy (I have a good one who handles AC) or kwikfit type job? (Probably cheaper).

The advantage of quikfit is that they will charge it for you and if it does not work there is no charge

Just to keep anyone who may have a similar quandry updated:

I took it to Kwik Fit to take advantage of their £45 No charge/no charge policy. I wasn't charged, but neither was the car!

Apparently it has a "valve problem or something" and will need ac specialist/main dealer attention.

I've an "a" service due in 7k miles, so I'll let my indy have a look then.

Oh well, windows open it is then for now.

Not Cool!

Hope it's a "valve problem" or something. I had same problem with my 02 C220 last year. Turned out the compressor was perforated and had to be replaced. Became quite an expensive job (and that was at an Indy).

That was bad luck Alan, but it does not happen so often

I took my car to BlackC55 at prestige car services today (portsmouth) to have comand coded with star, it also said air con was non existant?
He emptied it, vacuumed it (to remove any moisture i believe) regassed it and put in a leak detection fluid so if it fails due to leak it will be easy to detect . Now i have ice cold air all for £50.. He even made me a cup of tea whilst i was waiting!!!
Ok, i had 3 cups of tea as also got him to re seat an injector too....
