Anyone ever seen these advertised? I've seen them for the S Class at KMS but they don't have them for the E Class.

Reason I ask (apart from the obvious one about protecting my xenons) is that I want to stick a air of beam deflectors on them for trips abroad.

Yes I know - nerdy. But I did this with my Passat and it's a lot quicker than sorting out where to stick them each time. I had a set with the stickers on and another without. 30 secs of a job to switch them over.

I've seen the threads about little levers but my dealer confirms that my car - April 04 E Class 320 CDI Estate Avantgarde - does not have them. (We searched with lights and the computer for 2 hrs! See my earlier posts).

Anyone know where I can buy them?

Cheers to all, Russ

Thanks Andy - Just had a look on their site after putting in my E class 211 details. Got a no show for headlamp protectors.

Any other ideas?

Thanks, Russ

Cars with adjusterble Xenon lights are the 203,209,211,220 with code 614.

The headlamps with clear glass are adjustable.

211 cars with halogen have 2 levers.

211 with code 614 has one lever.

Hello Malcolm and thanks for your info.

Before I went abroad for the first time in the Merc (last Sept) I went to my local dealer to have him adjust the H/Lights using the lever(s) that people had posted about previously.

The technician and I spent about 2 hrs with powerful inspection lamps trying to find the adjusters. Several bits of plastic trim were also removed to get a clearer view and better accesss. We couldn't find them. The Tech knew about the levers and had done the adjustment on other cars. He said (beforehand) that they are quite fiddly and were easier if you have small hands.

He also checked the computer (Star I assume) using my vehicle numbers as a reference. This didn't help us to find them.

He ended up by suggesting that I buy a pair of stick-on deflectors at Halfords and bring them back to him. I did this and he kindly stuck them on in the optimum position using a beamsetter.

I have to say that although we didn't sort it out with the levers, I was mightily impressed with the care he took and with his helpfulness in using the beamsetter. It took us about 2 hrs and no charge! He also suggested that I make a template of their positions on each lamp cover so that an acurate position could be achieved next time. It was after this that I thought about the clip-on protector idea.

In the previous posts there were a number of references to the lever(s) but I don't recollect anyone giving the extra info you have - about the Code 614 cars having just one.

My lamp covers are clear and the lights are Xenons. This makes the positioning of the stickers difficult as there's no grill on the lens to refer to. There's no "lens" at all really - I suppose the lights are accurately projected/reflected from the pattern visible on the floor of the fitting.

Anyway, thanks for the additional info. All remains a mystery to me and I'm left wondering if my car is odd. I wonder if MB ever made these cars/lights without the adjusters? Has anyone else had to give up on their adjusters??

Fascinating stuff all round but as i said to the Tech, it's a bit poor for the best car in the world to have Halford stickrs on its lamps! He agreed!

Thanks again, Russ

Hello again!

Just been having a look at the back of my service booklet. There's a sticker giving a series of numbers and codes. It's called a "2 Wartungsheft"

Malcolm - I can't see code 614 listed here - although the 2nd code listed accros the bottom double row of codes is "220" and you mention 220 in your post.

Interestingly, there are sections for a whole range of things - tyres, heating etc and even one - 17 - for lighting. Unfortunately there are no codes entered against these (except "Continental" for the front tyres and 744 for 31 - paintwork.

My car is a 211 as its WDB number starts with "WDB 211 etc"

Does any of this coding help me establish whether I should have a lever on each lamp?

Thanks, Russ
