Hey,

I have a question in regard to the second hand clk 200 2006 that I bought recently.

Few minor issues I had with the car so far, most repaired or going to be repaired by me soon. Well it's 2 in total. Apart from this one which will make it a 3rd.

Every time that I slow the car down and prepare it to stop, it makes a nice ol' clunk sound coming from the front(singular). I think it's from the front as I do feel it also.

I'm acquiring everything I need to replace the transmission fluid during the week. Hoping that this will fix it. I do have some of the service history of the car and to my dissapointment it's never been done or recorded that it has been and the car is on 211lk km right now. If the clunk is not coming from the transmission (which I won't know until is done unless someone hold the answer to my question) then I'll replace the fluid anyway, but when I'm at that hopefully I will have a suggestion of whatis really the issue and then could hit 2 birds with 1 stone (so long I don't need to take out the whole transmission).

Automatic transmission. From research so far I've found out the U-joint and the driveshaft flex discs are also the suspects. Any help at all will be very much appreciated. If anyone needs videos or pictures I will be able to provide them. If pictures or videos from underneath the car then Monday probably as I should have my axle stand by then.

Thank you for spending the time to read the post.

I do feel a bit of vibration on my resting foot (its in ireland so rhd) a bit clunky. The particular issue though, it's the exactly same sound as when I park the car on a slope.

Interesting - I'm having a similar issue with my 2016 B-Class and although I've been to a couple of indys in my area, they don't seem to be able to find the problem. It's worsened by the fact that, until reenty, it was somewhat intermittent, and on both occasions when I've been to the mechanics, the fault was not evident. Now, though, it's present pretty well all the time. It seems to occur only when accelerating from rest, or braking to slow down to rest in traffic, and also seems to occur only in 1st, 2nd and 3rd on tha 4Matic auto box. In 4th or higher gears, that "clunk" (good name for it, by the way; I've usually described it as feeling like I'm driving over bumps in the road) does not happen.

We bought the car from a used car sales site, with 166,000 km (about 100K miles) on it and no service records. Despite the fact that the service schedule calls for a change of AT fluid at 160K km, I strongly suspect that was not done, so that may be my first port of call, although that's unreasonably expensive on this car since there's no dipstick to measure the fluid, so it's got to be drained and refilled no matter what.

Please keep this thread up; I'll be checking to see what you've found, ad I'll log in also to report any progress I've made with a different mechanic shop.

Thanks for reading this.
