Hi,

I have a CLK 200 Kompressor (2002). About 75k miles on the clock. Car is due a service in next month or so.

Last week I was driving along the motorway, half way through a journey of about 150 miles, when the engine diagnostic warning lamp came on. It's been on ever since.

Anyone any ideas what this could be? I'll obviously get it checked in the service, but would be good to be prepared for whatever story the mechanic gives me!

BTW if it makes any difference, I've been averaging about 500 miles a week motorway driving over the past 4 weeks, after generally "city driving" over the past year.

Hi Ed,

Could be so many different things to be honest. The fault codes will have to be read and reported back.

A few possibles are:-

Cam adjuster magnet oil leak causing electrical issues like O2 sensors showing up.

Air mass sensor faults

2002 SL500, 216 CL500, all fully loaded
As Ellsy above,, is the cam adjuster grommet leaking oil into the wiring and going through the MAF and on to the 02 sensors,, that fits the bill with this fault
