Thank you everyone

I am going buy;
2 x Front 225/45 R17 94W

To balance with the current
Rear 245/40Z R17 95W
(I don’t know why the rear is 40Z ? )

Brand wise, I am debating between the following. My priorities are good wet grip and controlled aquaplane as I do a lot of motorway driving.

Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 225/45 R17 94W

Rainsport 5
225/45 R17 94Y

hopefully I get fitted by Saturdays
Thank you again

2005 CL500.
The rear is 40 because this is the profile ratio. The ratio is a proportion of the width. So, to make both front and rear almost the same you have 45% of 225 (101.25) on the front and 40% of 245 (98) on the back. The rears are only 3.25 mm smaller as regards the side wall than the fronts.

Sounds good, both good tyres- I’d be erring towards the GY mainly for longevity
