Hi ,
I own a 2005 CLK 220 and in the last week I have noticed that on the roof a small section of paint has sunk and pitted around the sunken area , The area is a bit smaller than a 2 pence piece , The paint is not broken so it is not a stone chip , It is not bird crap as the paint has no discolouration at all (and I always clean off bird crap asap) I don't park under any trees so it's not sap that's done it . I wash the car every week weather permitting and have only noticed it in the last week or so . I took it back to mercedes who done a paint reading test on it and said the depth on the roof panel was very consitent with factory standards and there are no signs of a touch up job as the paint depth would have been different . I have read that it could be solvent popping but could this take 18 months to come through the paintwork , If any one has any advice please can you help me as I want to go back to Mercedes with a solid case for getting it repaired , Look at the link for a picture of the paint mark
