CLK 2006 Instrument cluster dead.

This is a word of warning to all fellow MB owners whom send your instrument cluster to BBA Reman for repair, This is my experience, I noticed my folding mirrors hadn't folded inwards on inspection i found my instrument cluster dead, I checked the fuses ( 2 ) and on recommendation for a family member i called BBA Reman in kent and they assured me they could fix the problem as it was a common fault, I sent it off to them and a week later i got it back, i fitted it to the car and yes all working, two days later the cluster failed again this time all warning lights kept coming on and off with a relay clicking in the cluster with many error messages in the display, i contacted BBA Reman again and ending up sending it back to them, They called me and advised they were going to look for a replacement 5 weeks later i contacted them again to get a conclusion to this problem they said they would have another go at a repair, i received the cluster back ( car has now been down 2 months ) Cluster was fitted and it worked, Ten hours later was dead again,
I contacted them as all repairs are guaranteed, they inform me they would give me a refund ( i have now received the refund minus £64, which they charge for diagnostic's and postage )
So Back to square one but 2 months on, i found out that for my car it would cost £1,142 + vat from Mercedes ouch,
I contacted a guy Patryk of Totaltronics whom advised he would look at it for me and advise, i dropped it off to him and same day he advised a very poor repair had been carried out and that there was shorts on the board which he though the processor would have been cooked, he decided to replace the board which he did and i collected the cluster a couple days later, i put it in the car and hey presto all's working ok,
It cost a little more because of the cost of the new card but it's working fine and Patryk offers a lifetime warranty which is what is really needed

So the moral of the story is although BBA Reman are a big company they are in fact very very poor in their workmanship Totaltronics is the place for me

BBA reman used to be very highly thought of but I know several traders who now avoid them , I don't know why their quality of service has dropped but it clearly has

Hi Bembo, It takes years to get a good reputation but only weeks to destroy that reputation. very disappointed with their handling of this repair, I have now got my refund but this experience has cost me £64.80.

trouble is u have no idea of the competence of the one doing the job…. I think these major ones are now so busy and the repairs so simple its almost a dole que special hiring and training regime

Certainly worth remembering, Patryk of Totaltronics did a video showing all the work he carried out on my cluster and at the end showed it working just what you need not the cheapest but certainly the best value, Brian.
