CLK 230 Heater controls

Me again. Anybody able to explain what all the positions on the heater distribution dial do? There are pictograms at the top, bottom and sides which show to where the heat will be distributed and between each of these are 2 further positions marked with dots. The manual does not explain about the dots and it's hard to determine from where the heat is meant to be coming.

Hi

In general you will find that most of the arrows are self explanatry. When the dial is pointed inwards to wards the heater switch itself. This is to allow the side air vents to work.

I'm fine with the arrows, thanks. It's the dots between the arrows that stump me. For instance, the one on the right has arrows pointing up and down (screen and footwell) and the one at the bottom has ones pointing up, down and towards the seated figure (screen, footwell and cabin). Between these are settings designated with dots only. What are these meant to control?
